Potential big news for the future of the Tukwila School District and the King County Library System’s Foster location!
The Tukwila School Board has authorized the superintendent to move forward with a bid to purchase the King County Library System’s Foster site at 42nd Ave. S. and S. 144th St., Tukwila. The district is interested in re-purposing the facility to house its Transportation and Technology Department, a project approved by voters in the 2016 Construction Bond. The current building that houses these two departments is located on the Foster High School site and will be removed as part of the Foster High modernization and expansion project, also approved by voters in the 2016 Construction bond. The district anticipates putting a bid together for the property and submitting it to King County Library System by the end of May.
King County Library will relocate its Foster branch to a new, larger space in the under-construction Tukwila Village next year.
In other real-estate activity, the district is still looking for suitable property to house its Birth to Five Center and should have more information in the coming weeks.
The Tukwila School District sold approximately $65 million in bonds on May 18 to begin its construction work.
