School Board Meeting Presentation/Topic Calendar
The School Board has set a calendar for the work of the board, including regular updates on key topics. For example, new policies or policy revisions will be introduced during the first meeting of the month, for a vote during the second meeting of the month; levy and bond updates will occur during the second meeting of each month.
Regular meetings of the school board are held in the boardroom of the Administration Building located at 4640 S. 144th St., Tukwila, at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. (Please note: the first board meeting of the month is held at a school in January through June. Check the district homepage’s Upcoming Events for specific locations.) Agendas are available from the Superintendent’s Office or any school office the Monday afternoon before the meeting or online at Board Docs. All regular meetings are open to the public.
Special meetings are open to the public and may be called by the president or a majority of the Board members to hold work-study sessions, meet deadlines, or attend to emergency situations. The district website will be updated at least 24 hours in advance of special meetings and the local news media will be notified. In the event of an emergency involving fire, flood, earthquake, possible personal injury, or property damage, the Board may meet immediately and take official action without prior notification.
Closed executive sessions can be held by law only to discuss matters which require confidentiality. Such issues include personnel action, student discipline, site acquisition, litigation, or employee negotiations. However, all formal actions resulting from these meetings are taken in public sessions.
The school board welcomes public participation at its meetings. The purpose of board meetings is for the board to conduct its business in public, not to provide a public forum. The Board does provide a period during the meeting when visitors may comment, seek clarification, discuss non-agenda items, and make presentations on agenda items.
If you would like to provide background information or other documentation to the school board prior to a meeting or if you would like to voice your opinion, please call the Superintendent’s office at 206-901-8006 or email email@example.com.
